SUMMARY:2019 Watermelon Carnival + Trains Tracks Pork Attack BBQ Contest
DESCRIPTION:The Water Valley Water Melon Carnival is a full-fledged weekend celebration. Each year’s carnival is kicked off by a Thursday evening music festival at the Civic Auditorium sponsored by the Town & Country Garden Club.  On Friday a Street Dance with a  fireworks display draws crowds to City Park. Saturday is full of continuous entertainment\, food vendors\, arts and crafts booths\, contests\, parades\, an antique car show\,  a 3-K run and much more. \nThe Watermelon Carnival hosts a standard and specialty MBN contest with Whole Hog\, Pulled Pork and Ribs categories. SUMMARY:Dulcimer Concert
DESCRIPTION:A special program of dulcimer music will be provided by the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm\, at the Parkway Visitor Center located at milepost 266 near Tupelo\, Mississippi. \nThe North Mississippi Dulcimer Association teaches dulcimer history\, tradition\, craftsmanship\, and music by sharing its knowledge and talents. The Appalachian mountain dulcimer is the first instrument developed in the United States. Dating back to the early 1800s\, the dulcimer is an instrument whose very name means “sweet sound.” The National Park Service and the North Mississippi Dulcimer Association invite everyone to listen to the soft sweet sounds of the dulcimer and learn about its extensive history.
