No participation awards will be given if more than 7 contestants are in a group. A most photogenic will be awarded in each division who also receives a trophy (this is included in your entry fee). There will also be 3 Supreme Titles (or overall Most Beautifuls) awarded! DESCRIPTION:Metal Clay was created in the early 1990’s in Japan for the purpose of using reclaimed silver.  It consists of microscopic particles of silver suspended in an organic binder\, making it similar to modeling clay. It can be molded\, textured\, and shaped using simple and inexpensive tools to create jewelry that would be attainable with traditional metal-smithing techniques. When heated by torch or kiln\, the organic binder burns away and the metal particles sinter (fuse)\, forming solid metal that can be treated as you would traditional silver. \nCome spend the afternoon at the Farmhouse exploring the unlimited potential of metal clay and create a pair of dragonfly wing earrings. This class will cover basic tools and techniques as you create your earrings.  You will learn how to roll\, texture\, and cut the fine silver metal clay and then fire it. DESCRIPTION:The 33rd annual Arts Alive juried fine arts and crafts festival is May 18 and 19 in downtown Florence\, Alabama. The festival takes place in Wilson Park and at Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts and features quality national\, regional and local artists and crafters. Admission is free so bring the family and stroll through the park as you meet artists\, find one-of-a-kind treasures to add to your collection\, and enjoy good food. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday. \nThe festival showcases artists specializing in painting\, stained glass\, jewelry\, sculpture\, pottery\, fiber art\, woodwork\, photography\, and much more. Arts Alive T-shirts and posters will be available for purchase in the park and online (coming soon). The Arts Alive juried gallery exhibition is in Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts right across the street from Wilson Park and is open the same hours as the festival.
