SUMMARY:DJ Swanson Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Most 11-year-olds spend their summers at camps\, relaxing\, and having fun. Not DJ Swanson. Last summer\, he researched and interviewed more than 20 people about the history of Reed’s Department Store in Tupelo for his documentary “Reed’s A History.” He spent time over the fall and winter editing his interviews into a 24 minute documentary that he entered in the Tupelo Film Festival. At 12\, he was the youngest person to enter the film festival. While at the festival this spring\, he won the Casey Spradling Newcomer Award.\nThis Saturday\, May 18\, you have the chance to watch an encore showing of his documentary at the Lee County Library in the Helen Foster Auditorium at 10 a.m. along with the ICC Films short “Hypno Heroes.”\nSwanson\, and people from Reed’s\, will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about the 112 year history.\nLight refreshments will be served.
