PRAM Northeast Chapter Meeting – June 2019

June 26, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

“50K Giveaway: How United Way Took a New Approach to Fundraising”
Presented by Robin McKinney, Director of Communications at United Way of Northeast Mississippi

United Way of Northeast Mississippi has been raising funds to support local nonprofit organizations since 1961, mainly by engaging employees to give through payroll deduction at their workplaces. But due to changes in workplace culture, generational attitudes, and technology, United Ways across the country have had to adapt and find new ways to engage individuals and raise the money they invest back into the community. In 2018, facing a potential shortfall of $200,000 from their campaign goal, United Way decided to get creative and find a way to get more people giving and engage people who had never participated in the United Way campaign. Along with an amazing team of volunteers, United Way raised over $245,000 through the $50K Giveaway. Robin’s presentation will share some of the ideas and challenges that made this event such a success for our region.
