Wildlife Festival

April 27, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Natchez Trace Parkway will host a Wildlife Festival at the Parkway Visitor Center on Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 10 am to 2 pm. Visitors can experience Mississippi’s wildlife diversity by watching live animal programs, and participating in exhibit booths that include information on turtles, insects, salamanders, mammals, environmental stewardship, and wildlife conservation. Visitors can attend scientist-led nature walks and engage in wildlife related, hands-on art and crafts activities.

During the Wildlife Festival, award-winning educator and herpetologist Terry Vandeventer will present “Snakes of Mississippi” programs at 10 and 11 am, and the Museum of Natural Science’s Conservation Educator Jackie Kerr will present “Turtles and Alligators” at noon and 1 pm; both programs will display live animals. The nature walks will focus on locating habitats and educating visitors on animal traits and behaviors.

All events are free to the public and appropriate for all ages. Due to limited capacity, the nature walks and live animal presentations are on a first-come basis. The Parkway Visitor Center is located at milepost 266 on the Natchez Trace Parkway, near Tupelo, Mississippi. For additional information visit the Parkway’s Facebook page, or contact us at (800) 305-7417.
