Good morning Tupelo, and how ‘bout that weather? Best night of sleep I’ve had in months thanks to the cool temps. Today is Friday, October the 12, 2018. It’s the 285th day of the year and there are 80 days left. Only 19 days till halloween, so keep an eye out later today (likely tonight) for a list of haunted housed, trunk-or-treats, and other great events.
Here’s a look at the weather from WTVA – The Weather Authority:
Grab a light jacket if you are not a fan of cool crisp Fall air. This morning we have temperatures starting in the middle and upper 40s with just a few spots hanging into the lower 50s. Skies remain sunny through this morning but clouds will overspread the sky by this evening.
It’s Food Truck Friday!!!
Come on down to FairPark if you are looking to find some great mobile cooking. Today you will see local MOBILE, Brunch Box, Indulge Mobile, MS Edible Bliss, Gypsy Roadside Mobile, Fire & Smoke BBQ/Catering LLC, and a chance to do some boutique shopping in the ShannAgainS fashion truck!
If you are on the west side of town, hit up Taquería Ferrus, between Computer Universe and & Choice Pawn Tupelo.
Jo’s Cafe is out by the NMMC Wellness Center (they are across from the walking track.
If you are in Fulton today, check out Beachum’s Food Truck on S. Adams St. or SHORT BUS Cooking by Delaney’s.
Looking for food in Pontotoc? Tupelo’s own Big Bad Wolf Truck is at the 2018 Bodock Festival along with quite a few other amazing vendors.
YES!!! My Favorite Festival of the Year!
Like I said, today is Tupelo Chili Festival day, one of my favorite events of the year. $10 gets you through the gates and give you the chance to try and vote on all the awesome local businesses and individual groups making this favorite cool weather comfort food. There will also be a chili lunch special prepared by Jim Beane from BBQ-by-Jim. It’s all happening in Downtown Tupelo between Main & Troy on S. Broadway St. I’ll see you there!
On top of the chili fest, we’ve got a few other great things going on today.
Over at the Oren Dunn City Museum , the Dogtrot Heritage Festival is kicking off. Travel back in time to 1870 when Tupelo incorporated. Friday and Saturday, demonstrators will portray everyday life during Pioneer times. Friday is open to schools, groups, etc. Saturday’s list of activities include live Bluegrass music from the front porch of the Dogtrot House, Pumpkin decorating contest, Pumpkin Chunkin’ Contest, Scarecrow Exhibit, crafts and multiple activities for the kids! $5 wristbands for unlimited play on train rides and bounce houses. Over in Pontotoc, the Bodock Festival is happening this weekend, an all day Friday and Saturday event featuring great food, shopping, crafts, and some pretty amazing games. Not to mention the entertainment happening in the evenings. I’ll have a full line up in the Live Music section below.
It’s also Tupelo Flea Market weekend, so tonight starting at 5:00, all day tomorrow and Sunday, you can head over to the Tupelo Furniture Market for a huge variety of shopping. Don’t forget your strollers.
