Weather Outlook

It sure was hot yesterday. I think Mother Nature forgot that Spring is just a little cooler than summer. Let us check our local WTVA – The Weather Authority forecast for the day:

Some stormy conditions at times on our Thursday. After several days of high pressure dominated weather, we will change our weather forecast a bit.  We will see a frontal system move through our area on our Thursday and Thursday evening.  This will bring back to our area good chances for some rain and thunderstorms.  Some of the thunderstorms will be on the hefty side at times.  We will see the best potential for some strong and gusty winds, along with some hail at times.  However, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out of the question with a few of the thunderstorms.

Thursday  Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, then showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. High near 74.  South wind 10 to 15 mph.  Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.  New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night  Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a chance of showers.  Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.  South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north northwest after midnight.  Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.  New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

On This Day

National Telephone Day! Not many people know what a telephone is anymore. Everyone is so accustomed to using cellular phones. It is amazing how the advancement of technology advances just to omit what some are accustomed to.

National East Meets West Day! Also know as Elbe day, is the day Soviet and American troops met at the Elbe River, near Torgau in Germany, marking an important step toward the end of World War II in Europe.

National Zucchini Bread Day! Zucchini bread is made from shredded zucchini making a sweet, moist bread. I have never tried this but is interesting. Guess I will ask my bread maker to make me one. Nope, she isn’t my baker, just my bread maker!

National DNA Day! Today is a unique day when students, teachers, and the public learn more about genetics and genomics. The day commemorates the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003. It also marks the discovery of DNA’s double helix in 1953.

World Malaria Day! Today is an international observance commemorating and recognizing global efforts to control malaria. Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease affecting human and animals by parasitic protozoans.

Word of the Day: Pitchy is of the blackest black, similar to the color of jet or coal; sooty.

Quote of the Day: Your attitude is like a price tag, it shows how valuable you are. –Unknown
