Clouds may increase a bit more into Wednesday morning. And this will come with a few spotty showers and storms. Most of these will drift southward out of West Tennessee. Diapers are expensive! Many families struggle to purchase enough diapers to keep their little ones clean and healthy. Let’s help relieve that burden by collecting diapers to benefit United Way partner agencies that serve families with young children: SAFE, Parkgate, Banah, Faith Haven, Salvation Army, and many food pantries.

Friday will be the last day of this drive. You can drop off at one of the following locations:
United Way office
BNA Bank, downtown New Albany
First Choice Bank, downtown Pontotoc
First American National Bank Fulton
Houston City Hall

Or make a monetary donation at www.groundswellnems.org/diaperdrive or text DIAPERS to 40403. You can also find additional information on Facebook

Peace Officers Memorial Day! In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated this day to honor our fallen law enforcement officers. Law officers around the world gather at Washington, DC to participate in a special memorial service.

National Nylon Stocking Day! Nylon stockings are close-fitting hosiery made from nylon, rayon, or silk.

International Day of Families! This day was started by the United Nations in 1993 and spreads the importance of international community attaches to families. It promotes awareness of issues relating to families and to increase knowledge of the social, economic, and demographic processes affecting families.

National Foster Care Month! This is a month set aside to acknowledge foster parents, family members, volunteers, mentors, child welfare professionals, and other members of the community who help children and youth in foster care find permanent homes and connections. This month, we renew our commitment to ensuring a bright future for more than 430,000 children and youth in foster care. We also celebrate those who make a meaningful difference in their lives.
