On This Day

National Have a Coke Day! The first Coca-Cola was sold on this day in 1886. Coke is my favorite dark cola. Cocaine was an original ingredient giving the “coke” name to it.

National Coconut Cream Pie Day! A cream pie filled with rich cream, milk, flour, eggs, and coconut. It is also topped with coconut and sometimes whipped cream.

World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day! Today we celebrate the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. In 1928, Henry Dunant was born on this day. She was the founder of International Committee of the Red Cross and recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize.

National Third Shift Workers Day! The third shift, also referred as the midnight or graveyard shift, usually starts before midnight into mid-morning.

National Receptionists Day! This Day was first celebrated in 1991, to celebrate the role of professional receptionists. Today we recognize and appreciate all that they do for jobs, organizations, and businesses and to promote pride and professionalism among them.

Word of the Day: Sun Dog is a bright spot in the sky often associated with a solar halo.

Quote of the Day: In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary. -Aaron Rose
