On and off since 2013, I have been attending masses, taking part in holiday ceremonies and visiting with the growing Latino community in northern Mississippi. This project was inspired by my wife’s upbringing. She was born and raised in Mexico, but Mississippi has had a special place in our hearts because this is where she became a U.S. citizen. On multiple occasions, the project has led to fundraisers and donation drives with The Mississippi Migrant Education Service Center at Mississippi State University. Through the years, I’ve been fortunate to meet and photograph hundreds of Latinos who also love calling Mississippi home.
