On This Day
National Girl Scout Leader’s Day! Today honors all the volunteers that lead and mentor our young girls. Today, we come together with girls, their families, and communities to thank all the volunteers, leaders, and mentors. If you know one, thank them and recognize them today.
Earth Day! Today marks the anniversary of the modern environmental movement created in 1970. The idea came from Senator Gaylord Nelson who wanted to promote a national teach in on the environment at colleges and universities between spring break and final exams. Today, plant a tree, clean up your yard, and anything that generates a healthy and sustainable environment.
National Jelly Bean Day! Jelly beans are small and colorful bean-shaped sugar candies with soft candy shells. They have thick gel interiors and are normally sweet and chewy. Now, they are even sweeter with Jolly Rancher, Starburst, and other popular candy brands. You may even have some left over from Easter.
Word of the Day: Hamartia is the character flaw or error of a tragic hero that leads to his downfall.
Quote of the Day: Even a stopped clock is right two times a day. -Marie von Ebuer Eschenback
