On This Day

National Loyalty Day! Today is observed to recognize the American spirit of loyalty and the many sacrifices that have been made for our Nation.

National Mother Goose Day! Today we commemorate nursery rhymes. Mother Goose is the imaginary author of a collection of fairy tales. She is depicted in literature and book illustrations as an elderly country woman in a tall hat and shawl.

Law Day! In 1958, U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower established this first day to mark the nation’s commitment to the rule of law. In 1961, Congress initiated this as the official day celebrating Law Day. The American Bar Association highlights a theme relating to law or the legal system.

Silver Star Banner Day! Today has become a representation of the Armed Forces members and veterans who have been wounded or became ill in combat in the wars fought by the United States. In 2010, the U.S. Congress declared this day.

National Hamburger Month! Hamburger Steak, originating in Germany, became a hamburger on buns with fixings. How do you dress your hamburger? Remember the Dudie Burger Festival this month and celebrate Hamburger Month!

Word of the Day: Circadian is being, having, or characterized by, or occurring in approximately 24-hour periods or cycles.

Quote of the Day: Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting, get understanding. -Bible, Proverbs 4:7
