On This Day

National Hanging Out Day! Not what I thought today was at all. I thought it was a form of hanging out with friends or skipping school to hang out. NOPE! Today is to encourage people to conserve energy and hang out clothes. I love hanging out clothes. Not many places have clotheslines anymore.

National Oklahoma City Bombing Commemoration Day! The name speaks for itself. In 1995, the bombing destroyed 1/3 of the building and killed 168 people, injuring over 680 others. This was an act of domestic terrorist car bombing. It happened downtown Oklahoma City at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.

National Garlic Day! Garlic is a herb or vegetable, upon which garlic is actually the bulb. It is packed with potassium, magnesium, maganese, zinc, selenium, arotene beta, zea-xanthin, and Vitamin C. It is used in many dishes for flavoring. Today, try something with garlic and keep the vampires away!

National Amaretto Day! Amaretto is a sweet, almond-flavored, Italian liqueur. It is used to flavor alcoholic beverages and sometimes coffee. As you relax for the weekend, have a drink to relax!

Word of the Day: Cogwheel is a toothed wheel that engages another toothed mechanism in order to change the speed or direction of transmitted motion. Also, referred to as a gear.

Quote of the Day: Teaching is only demonstrating that it is possible. Learning is making it possible for yourself. -Paulo Coelho
