The Rundown June 10th

0

Good Monday morning everyone! The Elvis festival is over, but there are still lots of great things to do in Tupelo! Let’s get to it, shall we? Welcome to The Rundown , sponsored by Sprout Insurance.

First your weather, as told by the experts as WTVA – The Weather Authority.

FEW STORMS WITH A LITTLE MORE HUMIDITY Your Monday begins mostly clear and mild with temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s. This isn’t unusual for this time of year, as humidity is usually in abundance. And there is still some left. But that changes later today. A rare June cold front begins to slowly make its way southward, sparking a few additional showers and storms into the midday and afternoon. Most of these will be found along and east of US Highway 45 into northwest Alabama. Afternoon highs reach the lower to mid-80s with heat index values in the mid and upper 80s to perhaps low 90s. But once the front passes, temperatures and humidity will drop quickly.

PLEASANT THROUGH MID-WEEK As mentioned before, this is a rare June cold front. But it’s not so much that we don’t typically get cold fronts in June. But instead, this one will be followed by a reinforcing shot of cold air. So not only do we get one cold front this week. We get two. We will see morning temperatures Tuesday slip into the lower 60s. Some will get into the upper 50s. Through your Tuesday, look for sunshine and rain-free conditions. Highs will reach into the lower 70s, perhaps some in the upper 70s. Heat index values will be no warmer than your actual temperature. Wednesday, we will be even cooler in the morning with temperatures mostly in the upper 50s. In the afternoon on Wednesday, we’ll heat up as you would expect. But another cold front arrives Wednesday, bringing a few extra clouds. But no rain should come with it. Instead, we’ll just see highs go from the mid-80s Wednesday afternoon back to the upper 50s and lower 60s Thursday morning. We’ll remain pleasant into Thursday with sunshine and highs in the lower 80s. Again, some may reach the lower 70s as afternoon highs. Then as we head into Friday, we begin to heat up again. This time, it appears it will continue to heat up into the weekend.

GETTING HOTTER, MORE HUMID INTO WEEKEND Saturday morning will begin in the upper 60s with mostly clear skies. Then as we head into the afternoon, look for sunshine and a return of the humidity with the heat. Afternoon highs reach the upper 80s with heat index values likely into the lower 90s. A few isolated showers are also possible. But those are mainly focused into the afternoon. That appears to repeat itself as we head into your Sunday. Highs will be in the lower 90s with heat index values into the mid-90s. Again, a few isolated showers and storms are possible. Scattered showers and thunderstorm capable of producing heavy rain & lightning remain possible to close this weekend. A number of locations will see little if any rainfall others could see a quick additional inch of rain. The low-pressure center near our region will gradually lose influence over our weather as the new work week begins.
