Memories and My Missing Stuff!

Friends, this memory thing ain’t funny! Most of y’all know what I’m talking about! It used to be funny but the fun done went out of it!

And it must be old age! It makes you tell stories! Don’t it? Well it does! You tell stories all the time!

You tell yourself, “Oh I can remember that phone number!” Yeah right! I can look one up and forget it while I’m dialing it! And I know, we don’t dial phones now! Humor me please? I’m old and forgetful!

You talk to yourself now! You remember old people doing that when you were younger? You would hear an old person just a mumbling! Now you know why! They were just trying to repeat something till they could write it down!

And stuff just goes missing! Like ink pens! Can’t find one when you need it! And if you did find it, you couldn’t find nothing to write on!

I was in my old truck the other day and needed to make a call! Called someone to get the number, couldn’t find a pen! Looked high and low in my old truck! Found my lost pocket knife, nineteen empty water bottles, and one left handed glove! But no pen! So I just wrote the number on the dash! Just used my finger to write it in the dust! Now it will be there if I need it again!

Now what did I do with that pocket knife? Dang kids! Keep getting my stuff!

And life goes on, on Thompson Hill.
